SCADA
SCADA
SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) system is used to collect data from sensors and instruments located at remote stations for the transmission and display the data in a central station for the purpose of supervision or management. Typical signals for monitoring and control are the limit switches, various types of sensors (analog and digital), relays, contactors and others. SCADA does not have complete control over the system, and it is more focused on the level of monitoring.
Big advantage of SCADA systems is the possibility of archiving data collected with programmable logic controller (PLC) which enables the analysis of weak points in the plant, and therefore process improvement.
In addition, the SCADA system can be connected to devices that are used to measure the power consumption of a complete plant or plant part.
This is a powerful tool in the analysis of individual failures that caused the cancellation of expensive equipment and enables customer to make plans for investment in the future (by analyzing the increase of energy consumed we can predict how much time will be needed to replace the transformer).
